With relaxed mask mandates and summertime approaching, New Yorkers are enjoying outdoor events and entertainment across the city, as arts institutions return.
Events like "Summer in the City" at Lincoln Center and "Shakespeare in the Park" from The Public Theater, are among many summer initiatives, intended to bring more traction to the arts industry which has suffered greatly during the Pandemic.
On Saturday, May 14th, Lincoln Center kicked off its summer series with the "Sing New York Event".
The "Sing New York" event featured The Young People of New York chorus, among other musicians and performers.
While the arts industries experienced financial hits during the pandemic, its impact remained solid.
"It was either dancing, singing, or watching other people perform theater - all that art form really helped us alleviate some stress, anxiety, and allowed us to connect when we physically could not be in person", said Fabian Garcia, a singer and Hunter College student.
With the easing mask mandate, more New Yorkers are headed outdoors and are likely to be seeking more events and activities.
Currently, COVID trends are mixed, showing an increase in new cases and hospitalizations, but a decrease in overall deaths, according to the CDC.
Despite the looming pandemic, the revitalization of the arts this summer continues to prove that New York City is a symbol of hope and resilience - for all.
