The film shines with excellent comedic and dramatic performances by its leads - Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman - but fails to create long-standing comedic moments or comedic story that fully meshes together.
The film draws from inspirations like "Superbad" and "American Pie" in the comedy cannon, giving the film a Millennial redemptive feel, and sports a stellar choice of supporting cast as well.
Though, the film never really settles into a tone that makes it fly. Instead, there are some forced chemistry between the lead characters, though it sometimes works: See the naked car-on-beach scene for a laugh!
Overall, the interaction between the unlikely duo is not one to miss - either in theaters or streaming at home!
